Children Under 2 - Italy or Japan?

My grand daughter wishes to take her 3 little ones with hubby to either Italy or Japan? Any suggestions?

I thought Japan with the Disneyland and terrific city or of course Italy from Lake Cuomo to Amalfi Coast - what
do you think? Wow - she is brave but once a year they have been on cruises and these little ones already have
been to other countries. This time she has asked Italy or Japan?

Thank you!!

At that age, it makes no difference.
Toddlers will be attracted to bright colors and intersting sounds, will require naps and somewhat regimented eating schedules. Both countries are very welcoming to children. Theme parks for that age are far and few between, Disney isn't one of them, as they're better suited for ages 7+

Italy has a lot of beaches, doesn't matter if it's a big beach or, a small one, they'll have a ball digging their toes into the sand and enjoying splashing around the water.
Japan I think has more thematic destinations, either restaurants, hotels, cafes, up to water parks and theme parks.

If all 3 kids are truly under 2, then it does not matter as mentioned above.

If only one is under 2, and the others older, then its about mapping out kid activities.

I've visited both countries.

Japan is a great cultural experience. Ive been to Tokyo Disney, and would recommend 6-7+ for this.

In Italy, there is Gardaland, which I took my 10 and 13 year old to. This has a range of activities, however has a number of roller coasters, similar to 6 flags in the USA. It has a peppa pig land a a section for smaller kids, but probably not worth the visit.

The real consideration is what is the adults wanting to see and do, and can they do this in either country, whilst with a pram/stroller, or do they need other arrangements.

In Japan, I walked a lot in Kyoto and Tokyo.
In Italy, we walked even more.

So in summary, choose your country for your adults, and then plan strategies to entertain, or make the kids trip enjoyable.

Thank you who gave such great infor when traveling with the little ones - yes they have traveled to South America and Mexico - they live in California - so this would be their first trip to Europe. I agree with many of you three little ones I could never do it but these two parents are amazing - and it just comes so naturally to them. I will pass on all your recommendations to them. Again, many thanks!!

We lived in Japan for three years when our kids were little, the culture there is very child-friendly, I could take my kids to playgrounds and if I was occupied with one, there would often be a grandmother spotting my other child when they were doing something high in the air( playgrounds are much more daring there for kids). Cartoon/animation characters are common throughout everyday signage, jt was just very appealing to children.

Would it make sense to visit whichever country is closest for a shorter plane ride?
