Children's programs/activities in Rome

Our family will be living in Rome for 3 months, while Dad teaches at a university. We are looking for activities and programs for our 9 and 11 year old so they can meet other children (they will not be enrolled in school while we are there). Any suggestions?

If you don't get a response, look at this section "to the boot" and someone has posted what to do with children in Rome with a website that should help you out. I think it is called Caio Bambino but not sure. Good luck. Also am sure you can do many day trips that are very educational for them, what an opportunity for all of you.

Maybe contact the Embassy/Consulate and see if they have anything? Check out the university Dad is teaching at and see what they have. DO you go to church, there are English speaking churches in Rome. Sometimes museums have activities for kids, I'm pretty sure the British Museum does so maybe the Vatican museum does too. Ask the landlord where you'll be living. Go to the nearest park/square routinely and maybe they'll find someone there, if it's not school time, but at least in Pisa, Italian kids get out of school fairly early in the afternoon. Have fun, what a great opportunity and they're at an age where they'll remember things!!

Thanks everyone for your helpful information! We will follow up on all of the suggestions. We love the idea of the kids meeting some other kids. Obviously some of this will just have to develop while we are there. Thanks again!
