I feel like my son and I will be missing out on Tuscany if we don't tour Chianti. A couple of well recommended private tour companies have said that they would tailor the trip to us. Since we have been to wine tasting in California and we are not really wine drinkers, we would like to see at most 1 winery to get the Italian take on it. So the question is where do we want to be taken and what do we want to see. We will be going from Florence on a Saturday and would be interested in quieter towns and castles if that is possible. A quaint small town with a market would be nice. We want to slow down the pace and take it all in. Open to your wonderful suggestions as always.
Tours by Roberto does exactly that, but with a group of 8 or 9 people. Try them.
We have booked a private guide in Sienna and "the heart of Tuscany" We are doing less wine tour and more "authentic" Tuscany. It helps we have an 18 month old, so running around and enjoying town squares is right up our alley. We are looking at driving from Tuscany to Sienna on the 222, which is right through the Chianti Region. We are looking at enjoying this region as well, but i haven't found too much help! Please let me know if you find a great lunch spot :)
