We are staying in Gaiole in Chianti for 7 days and are interested in Cinque Terre for a day trip. We know it's a long trip but told of a boat trip either from Portovenere or Viareggio, with on/off stops. We know it will be only a taste of CT but are interested in any suggestions..

I left comments on your Google Plus map to Pisa before I saw your post here. It's an arduous trip since you must go past the Firenze metro area. However, if you go, it's easier to drive to Marina di Massa and park to catch that ferry.
