Chianti highlights...Please help!

I would really appreciate if someone could share what they liked in the Chianti region. Is Greve the best place to go to?

We will be driving from Siena and are looking to hit 2-3 wineries with good food served for lunch. It would be great if you could recommend a few in the region.

Please let me know if you know of a good website/book that I can take a look at.

Thanks,
Meetu

You are asking for too much. The vintners don't operate that way. In the Chianti region they now have "Sunday Drives" advertised, and we have seen and participated. Lunches are not great, but good. I will try to find brochure.

Meetu - Look at the website for Volpaia (just google it) - it is an old village turned into a winery and there is a notable restaurant on the property.

There are wineries all up and down the S222 - the "Chianti Road". Have fun.

If you want information on the Tuscany/Umbria area, ask Henry at [email protected]. He just emailed me a 3 page very descriptive itinerary of a trip he took to that area. Wow!! is all I can say. It is a description that one could follow on a daily basis touring the area. He answered another question here on the traveler's helpline and I requested info on Tuscany area and what he sent is amazing. So much information for you to consider. Now you'll have many more decisions to make.

Thank you for all the replies! I am almost done making the winery reservations :)

I got a detailed mail from Henry at [email protected] and also from RS travel experts. Let me know if you want the details.
