Checking in and Checking out of Hotels

I am looking at staying at Hotel Artorius in Rome June 4th to June 9th. Looking at Veuling Airlines (sp?)web site, there is only one flight leaving Paris that day, arriving at 6:20pm. By the time I go through customs and passport check, finding Leonardo Express and hotel, I am looking at 8-9PM before I reach the hotel. Will I have any problems with late check in? I have search and cannot find an email for hotel to ask. Information on website states: Check in 12 noon and Check out 10AM. But doesn't list a "cut off" time. I don't want to loose room. Another issue, my flight leaves 8AM back to Phoenix via LHR. Will I have issue with very early check out. It looks like I need to reserve room then post additional comments or requests at end of process once credit care number given. I would rather not reserve room then have the problems of cancelling if check in/out will be a problem. Any suggestions?

The Hotel Artorius is a luxury hotel so you can check-in any time you want; the reception desk should be staffed around the clock. The room will be guaranteed to your credit card, so it will be held until the next day. Same deal with check-out, you can do it as early as you need to.

Kristen...if you are flying from Paris to Rome, you won't be dealing with Customs and Immigration on either end of the flight.

Kristen - this appears to be their contact info:

email

[email protected]

phone +39 064821196

fax +39 0648930421

I'd contact them and let themknow you'll be late , so there won't be any unfortunate misunderstandings.

If you are arriving late, you should let the hotel know about it. I can't believe they don't have an email address to write to. Check in and check out times are minimums and maximums times. They don't want guests arriving at 0800 and thinking they can check into their room, though if you ask and the room is available, some hotels will let you check in. They will also hold your luggage if you arrive early and want to go out sightseeing. Same goes for checking out. You can leave anytime you want, but 10 is the latest, unless you make other arrangements. It is also nice to let the hotel know you are leaving early too. It lets them arrange housekeeping for your room after you check out.

I was planning on letting them know that I will be arriving late and also leaving early. I have read many stories of people arriving late and room had been given to someone else. I also read that hotels and/or B&B lock doors at certain times etc...I am glad that I won't have to go thru immigration etc.. So maybe I won't be as late. I wasn't sure if anyone would be available that late or early at front desk. I have never reserved hotel in Europe so I wasn't sure of how hotels are ran.

Thank you Ron for the email address. I sent them an email to confirm that arrival and departure times will be ok. I am a huge worrywort. I think that I read too many horror stories about arriving and being stranded in a foreign country with no place to stay.

You don't go through customs on every country and you enter and exit from in Europe. If France is your initial entry

Early check-out - I find that it is better to settle the bill the night before, just to avoid a possible delay if I am leaving early. I did that several times and no one objected. I stayed in small hotels and check-out was always very quick anyway.
