Cheapest way to book Reservations? (Vatican, David, Doge's, etc)

My wife and I will be throughout Italy in mid Sept. We want to visit the Vatican, The David, Doge's Palace, the Coliseum, etc. Can anyone tell me the best way's to book these reservations online without paying excessive third party fee's. I appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks!

Hi Matt,
It was suggested to us that we have our hotels book our reservations at the various sights (except the Coliseum, where we are having a private guided tour) and the hotels were more than happy to do this without a fee. We will pay for our tickets when we arrive but we already have reservation or booking numbers and therefore can avoid the lines. We did this for Doge's Secret Itinerary, David, Uffizi, Borghese etc. I think most of the hotels are used to doing this for their guests.
Have a great trip!

Hi Matt,

You might want to look into just getting the Roma Pass when you arrive in Rome. When you buy this it includes 2 admissions fees to the sights of your choosing (however does not work for the Vatican). It also includes 3 days of public transportation (bus or subway) which is a great deal.

For the Vatican I would recommend you just book directly with them. I did this online and did the tour they offered. I thought this was the most reasonable price.

As for The David in Florence the official website for Florence museums is http://www.b-ticket.com/b-ticket/Uffizi/ . Go there and then book tickets for the Accademia.

For Doge's Palace in Venice, I don't think you'll need to book ahead of time. When we were there you there was a line you would go in. You could probably just by tickets the day before if you really wanted to.

Have a great trip!

I too went directly to the Vatican site and booked their guided tour of the Museum. It was very good... we got a good guide.

For the Uffizi and the Accademia in Florence, I couldn't get the official (b-ticket) site to work, so I called to get a reservation number. We paid when we got there.

No need to book ahead for the Colosseum. As mentioned above, just buy the 3-day Roma Pass and make sure the Colosseum is the first or the second place you visit and admission is covered along with the Forum and Palatine Hill. At the Colosseum, there's an accelerated line for people with the Roma Pass and you bypass all the other people in line.
