Cheapest tours of the Vatican

I want to go on a tour, and not try to navigate it myself on Rick's selfguided one.

I don't know about cheapest, but Angel Tours was terrific for the Vatican and Ancient Rome tours.

Don't mean to sound sarcastic, but I wouldn't make my choice completely on price. If you spend the money to go to Italy and want to see the Vatican with a tour, you want a good one. I highly recommend Angel Tours for the Vatican.

Rick's tour is very easy to navigate. There is a flow of people from room to room, so you can't get lost. Although my husband, who was at the Vatican museums serval years ago, thinks we missed several rooms of paintings and a corredor of sculpture. At over 3 hours, I thought the visit was fine.

I agree that a tour should not be based soley on price. Angel Tours does a good job and the price is 25 euro but there are discounted prices for students up to age 26.

Rick also has a free podcasts. Download them to your iPod as an alternative to carrying around his book everyday of your trip.

I would highly recommend 3 Millennia. Everyone else was using Angel Tours, so we decided to give 3 Millennia a try. We were very impressed with the owner (Tony Polzer), his communication, and his honesty. We also chose 3 Millennia because their groups are a maximum of 10. Well, much to our surprise, our family of 5 was it, so we had a private tour. 3 Millennia's tour starts at 1:00, is not guaranteed as a "skip the line" tour, but Tony assured us that we would not have to wait on line that time of day. And, he was right; we walked right in. The tour was great, and we would use 3 Millennia again in a heartbeat.

Just so you know...the 25 euro price on the Angel Tours Vatican Tour is not accurate. If you do that tour which is 1:30pm tour and doesn't guarantee you won't stand in line and you still have to pay the 13 euro admission fee. It's actually a 50 euro tour if you want admission included and you want to skip the lines. Check out the website for up to date info.

Thanks, I booked with them this morning, and they said I do get to skip the line. Did you have to wait when you went with them?

Thanks, but after today I'll be in S.F., and flying out on Monday, so I won't have internet until I hit an internet cafe in Rome. Post it anyway. I may get to it before we do the tour on Friday.

Don't forget that you still have to pay the 14E admission fee too.
