Cheaper way from airport to Rome Cavalieri Hilton?

We are using Hilton Honors points for the hotel. They say a Limousine is EUR 85.00, or Taxi EUR 50.00. Which in dollars is a lot. They mention Subway/Rail EUR 9.00 any one know how to travel that way from airport to hotel at Via Alberto Cadlolo 101? I'm too embarassed to ask them.
Thanks.

We used Rome Shuttle Limousine (www.romeshuttlelimousine.com) a couple of times for 35 Euros plus a small tip (for up to 3 people) from FCO to the Cavalieri Hilton. We booked in advance online and they were waiting with a sign outside of the baggage claim.

You can take the train for about 9 Euros per person to the Roma Termini station, but then a taxi with your bags will be probably 10-15 Euro from there. The subway is not very close to the hotel and it's up on a hill... You could try a bus, but a shuttle or taxi would save a lot of time and energy after a long flight.

We used romeshuttle.com as well for E35 for three people. Gentleman was waiting for us at the gate, took our bags and led us to his car. 30 minutes later, he dropped us off at out mid-town Rome hotel.

Rhonda - congratulations on using points at the Rome Hilton Cavalieri. It's a GREAT hotel, probably one of the finest Hilton's I've stayed in!

I am a Hilton Diamond Member so I used points also. If you're a Diamond Member, ask for and/or you'll get a room on either the 7th or 8th floor - the two "exectuive" floors. The complimentary "excutive room," with free food and drink, is on floor 7.

Even if you're not a Diamond Member, start lobbying now (email, phone, etc.)for a room FACING Rome. The viw from the other side "ain't too pretty..." but the side facing Rome is incredible! (Of course, the executive room on 7th floor faces Rome!).

As far as tranport. This hotel is in the middle of a neighborhood. There are NO nearby metro options - so do not even consider that. Even the local bus routes are a trial to get there. To get from downtown it would take a minimum of 2 busses and some serious walking!

So you're options are to get a taxi at the airport - or use a shuttle service. I've used both services as posted before and they so a good job. I'm probably more partial to romashuttle.com as I know Alfredo who works there. But find one you're comfortable with.

The Hilton is GREAT - the only downside is you're out from the city. You will either have to ride the Hilton Shuttle (nice tour bus) into and back from town (leaves hourly); or you will have to catch a taxi each time (15-20 Euros a pop).

If you stay out past 9 PM, then YOU WILL catch a taxi because the shuttle does not run after that. The "Shuttle" does drop you at Piazza Barberini so you're right at a metro stop and it's easy to go anywhere from that location!

There is a subway/rail/bus option from FCO, BUT NO WAY do you want to try that without knowledge of the city and also hauling a bunch of luggage. Any othe questions, give us a yell!

Ciao,
Ron

Ron's info is on the money. Feel free to ask the hotel for information over email. Their concierge service is the best I ever encountered.
