Hello all. I'm looking for recommendations for places anywhere in the Cinque Terre that are cheap. The cheapest I'm finding online is 60 euros a night for a double in Corniglia (there are a few places that offer this). We're going May 16-18th this year (Thurs. and Fri. night). Some places classify this as high season (ok most), but others don't. We'd like a place that we're able to lock up our belongings in during the day, but besides that we don't care about sharing a bathroom or how fancy the room is. We hope to spend most of our time on the beach or trails anyway! I've searched most of the places listed on booking sites, so I'm wondering if any of you know of less well-known places perhaps that aren't on those sites that might have low prices? Ostello 5 is full (although I haven't checked on their dorm beds). We also don't really care which town because we figure we can spend our time in whatever town we want and then just train or walk back to the town we're sleeping in at night. Thanks in advance!
Hi Rachel. Not sure which you are referring to by 'Ostello 5', but there are nice hostels in both Manarola and Corniglia. - Have you checked all options at both? Enjoy your trip!
Rachel, It's not surprising that Ostello 5 Terre is full, as that's the "official" Hostel for the Cinque Terre, so it's very popular with budget travellers. It's a well run Hostel, but I haven't stayed there as I have a problem with the very strict three hour "lockout" in the afternoons. Here are a few other choices to consider: > Mar-Mar Rooms in Riomaggiore. I have stayed with them, and they provide reasonably priced and clean rooms. However, no breakfast provided. Their office is on the main street in Riomaggiore (as I recall, you MUST arrive before 17:00, as that's their closing time). I would highly recommend them. If you get a booking, I can provide a suggestion for breakfast. > Ostello Corniglia. This is relatively new, so I haven't stayed there and don't have a lot of information. They seem to have good ratings. Especially with luggage, taking the small Shuttle up to the town would be advisable. There are likely some good possibilities in Vernazza, however I'm not as familiar with that so don't have any suggestions to offer. You might have a look at the Guidebook or the Save Vernazza website. Happy travels!
