My VISA Chase debit card through Chase has a "Interlink" and "Plus" symbol on the back - are those common to find in Italy ATMs?
I know they are going to rip me for 3%, so that's just a fact of life to deal with.

PLUS is the international ATM network run by Visa. There are tens of thousands of locations around the world, so you won't have any trouble finding machines in Italy that will accept them. If you want to check it out further, go to http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/global/jsp/SearchPage.jsp

Start a Capital One Money Market account and you can use their ATM card and pay no international fees. That's what we did, since 3% can add up VERY quickly. Search "Capital One" on this site to find out more.
