Charging phones, etc

I have a travel electrical adapter and converter kit to be able to plug items into European outlets...Have also read somewhere that a small power strip is good to charge multiple items at the same time...does anyone have any experience with this and is it a workable idea with the strip plugged into the converter and adapter?

The more important question is do you need the converter? If you stuff can be charged without a converter that is what you should do. Running through a converter can cause problems and possible damage to your stuff.

we have 2 Iphones, a camera battery charger, and 2 Kindles (which may not even require charging during our 18 days)

We just used a 2 round plug adapter. We were not using a hair dryer or other stuff that requires lots of power. It worked fine with a Kindle, a phone and a pocket wifi.

See if your devices state that they are rated for 100-240 V. If so, you don't need the converter. I'm 99% sure the iPhones are rated for overseas use. The power strip may work even if it isn't rated for 240 V. There was a post here that I think said someone had used one and it worked just fine, but look for it to be sure.

I've always just used the adapter from the RS travel store. If you are staying in very old hotels, be careful about plugging in a lot of things at once - even with a power strip, it can be a problem.

A plain Jane power strip works fine. You do not want to use a power strip which has built in surge protector.

Thanks all for your info...I am leaning toward not taking a power strip as none that I have found are any higher than 125 volt max...all of my devices ARE up to 240 volt so no problems there with just a plug adapter

Todd, as Frank noted, a plain on/off only power strip, and probably the kind without the little light, should work. All it is is a box with copper wire. No electronics to burn out. Ones with surge protection, etc. would likely blow.
