Changing trains at Milan station

On May 28 we will be arriving at the Milan train station from Zermatt and the Switzerland web site states that the train arrives at 16:38(Milano Centrale) The Trenitalia train site states that a train leaves Milan at 17:15 (Mi C LE) I presume that both trains are in the same station. Is this enough time to change trains? Thank you for any assistance

Yes, most of the larger towns have a "central" station (Centrale), abbreviated as you've seen, plus other outlying stations (Milan Cadorna, for example). You will have more than enough time to find your new train and board. Generally 10-15 minutes is possible.

Mark, That should be more than enough time to change trains. Milano Centrale is somewhat "chaotic" at the best of times, but you'll have lots of time to locate your next train on the electronic departure board. One point to mention is that I've found they sometimes don't list departure times or track numbers until about 30-minutes prior to departure. You can get an "approximate" idea by checking the paper departure charts in the plexiglass cases. You should have enough time to grab a coffee or Panini for the trip. Another point to note is that the washrooms are "pay per use" (€1) and are located one floor down from track level on a moving sidewalk. Be sure to keep watch on your luggage and wear a Money Belt! Where are you heading after arrival in Milan? Happy travels!

Thanks for your help. Now I don't have to worry about not having enough time to change trains in Milan. We are going to Rome after we change trains in Milan Cheers

You know what I don't understand, Ken, is why anybody using a modern train would use the expensive pay toilets in the station. Yes, some train toilets aren't the palace, and some are locked out from time to time, but given a little time its usually possible to find a decent one somewhere on the train (try first class). Whenever I arrive in London, for example, 15 minutes before arrival I wander down the car. Less hassle with luggage then, too.
