Changing Trains at Firenze Santa Maria Novella station

Hello
We have a connection time of only 10 minutes at Florence and wonder if anyone knows if this is enough or not. We'll be coming from Turin, arriving at 14.04 and changing to the train for Perugia which leaves at 14.14. We'll have a couple of bags which will not be (I hope) too heavy.
Does anyone know where I can find out which platforms these trains arrive at and depart from?

Thanks for any help

The trains there all use one big room, with the tracks in numerical order, so your chances of catching the train to Perugia in 10 min are pretty good. If you miss it, not to worry, since there are several more Regionale trains coming hourly after it (according to the Trenitalia.com website). The trains don’t always use the same arrival and departure tracks - you have to check the big board in the hall to see which track (binario) your train is using.

This site has tons of useful info on specific train stations: https://www.seat61.com/stations/florence-santa-maria-novella.htm#:~:text=Florence%20Santa%20Maria%20Novella%20(usually,after%20the%20little%20church%20nearby.

You might also search for videos about the station to get familiar with it.

Don’t wait until the train comes to a complete stop to gather your bags. Get up early, get your bags and be standing near the door ready to get off. This station is a terminus, meaning everyone will be getting off the train.

Thanks to everyone who’s responded to my question. I’m sure you’re right.
I can check the probable platforms as we approach the station and double check on the board. And yes, gathering bags early and standing by the door is sensible.
Thanks all

Hopefully you will be in the front cars. But if not you can also take the underpass, which is located about half train. There should be displays in the underground underpass as well.

Your train FR9535 coming from Torino PN is schedule to arrive at track 11.
Your Perugia train RV4079 (dest. Spoleto) is scheduled to depart from track 14.

However track changes happen all the time, so keep an eye on the displays when you arrive.

Hello fgreig37, all good advice here.

I'd suggest downloading and using the Trenitalia app where you can track your next train and check its track assignment as you pull into the station. Assuming everything is on time 10 minutes should be fine for a change in Florence.

Have a great trip,

It's true that trains don’t always use the same arrival and departure tracks and that you have to check either the monitors or the big board. On the other hand, Trenitalia publishes the list of all intended arrival and departure tracks, by station and train number.

The train from Turin usually stops at platform #11. The 14:14 trains to Spoleto and Foligno usually depart from platform 14, ten meters away from platform 11 if you start walking towards the train engine before arriving in Florence.

Do you have to validate online the Regional train's ticket? It should be explained in the email from Trenitalia.

This station is a terminus, meaning everyone will be getting off the train.

No, it doesn't mean that. In fact the 14:04 Freccia #9535 from Turin ends its run in Naples, not in a middle sized city like Florence.

Hello to all you lovely people who have taken the trouble to check out our train connection and platforms. You are all great. I'm pretty sure we'll be fine and, as has been pointed out, there's another train that goes to Perugia shortly afterwards. In fact, we have deliberately made sure that we'll get to Firenze in time to catch a later connection in case of problems which is a shame because we'd have like a more leisurely morning in Turin. However, we are going to a wedding in Perugia on Friday 15th so cannot afford to risk being late.
Again - thank you all very much.
