Changing seats on Trenitalia

I booked some of my tickets last night for September/October. When I requested to choose my seat, I got the message that on that train, the seats were automatically assigned. I would really like to change one of them (to get a window seat). Anyone know if it's possible? Or should I just hope a 7am train on Sunday won't be that full and no one will be next to me?

First, are you entirely sure your ticket if for an alley seat? In any case, it is unlikely such a train would be full, except in specific date/routes. Then, you can just seat in a vacant place (but remember you can be asked to leave the seat if someone else with a seat reservation there appear).

I guessed based on the fact that one ticket I have is for 10C and one is for 9D...and the Seat 61 site seat plans confirmed that the 10C seat is an aisle seat. The issue I have is that the train I have the aisle seat for stops in both Naples and Rome, so I know there will be people getting on at both stops. I'd like to avoid moving around seats multiple times if I can....

Are you saying these two tickets are separate trains, and that you are traveling alone? OR, that you want to sit with a travel partner? So...is the question: you're traveling alone, currently have an aisle seat, but want to change it to a window seat to avoid having to get up while people sit in the window seat next to yours? It's way past time for me to eat something; perhaps your question is very clear and my interpretation leaves something to be desired ;-D What are your departure and arrival cities, if Naples is a stop?

Yes, that is exactly my question - just phrased a lot better! :-) I've been looking around on the new site, and I can see my reservations, but I don't see any way to change the seat assignment, and was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to do so. I am going from Salerno to Florence.

If the people sitting are nice, they may just trade seats (as an aside - we were on one of the ITalian trains with the 6 seat compartments - hubby and I had a middle and window seat, but the car already had 4 people when we boarded - so of course the one in 'my' seat didn't move, even tho we obviously were together, so we spend the next hour passing chips back and forth over the unmovable person and talking over them...they finally went off to the washroom so I scooted over...and took the seat...fun fun!)
