Changing planes in Frankfurt airport

We are booked on United Star Alliance airlines for our trip from US to Rome. We arrive via Singpore Airlines at 11AM in Frankfurt and then have a noon flight to Rome via Luftansa. We are concerned that we are going to miss this connection considering the fact that we have one hour to get from Singapore to Luftansa in a strange airport and need to go through customs. Any thoughts on this or help getting us to Luftansa in time are appreciated.

An hour is a bit tight in Frankfurt, I'd prefer 90 minutes in Frankfurt just to be on the safe side in case my flight coming into Frankfurt is delayed. But it's not like Heathrow and usually an hour connecting time works just fine. Not sure why you'd have to go through customs? We checked our luggage through from Calgary via Frankfurt to Rome and didn't see it again till Rome.

Since all your carriers are part of the Star Alliance you are safe even in the unlikely case you miss the connection. There are several flights from Frankfurt to Rome every day so Lufthansa will simply book you on the next one that has seats available.

We arrived in Frankfurt from Los Angeles on Lufthansa. We were to transfer to a flight from Frankfurt to Florence. Our baggage was checked straight through. We did not see it until Florence. We were able to walk from the International area to the domestic EU area with no difficulty. No significant immigration check. We just had to show our passport and tickets in a couple of checkpoints. It took no longer than 10-15 minutes to arrive in our transfer gate.

Have your paperwork filled out, so remember to take a pen with you on the plane. You don't need to claim your luggage, but you will go through passport control.

Go fast when you get off the plane to get in the customs line, make sure you get in the correct line (Not EU citizen) READ the signs overhead with a calm mind and you should be OK. Others on your flight will know where they are headed, everyone goes the same place to clear.

Once you clear, it shouldn't be too hard to find your connecting flight. The signs are in English as well as German.

Our flight is about the same, we arrive in Frankfort at 11:45AM and depart for Italy at 1:10PM. We just hope the flight from the US is on time. I don't think the airlines would book a flight like this if it wasn't possible to make the connection. If there are 2 of you....make sure you both are watching and reading signs carefully. Travel lightly, and plan on climbing stairs to get to your gate.
