Changing names on Italoreno ticket or refund possible?

Hi all. Unfortunately, I have to cancel my April plans to visit Italy due to unexpected family issues. So upset about it :( Italy has been my go to dream location, but it will have to wait .

I had already bought all my travel tickets (Round trip flights with no travel protection - bought back in October) and all my train tickets with Italoreno. All of the tickets are Prima. Is there any way to cancel the ticket or change the names on it so that I can give it to someone else? As for my Delta plane ticket, I've never had any luck getting refunded for plane tickets. Every single time I try, the cost to refund costs more than the refund itself.

Sorry to hear about the trip.

Prima only applies to the tier of service/carriage the ticket provides. According to the website, you can only get a refund on a flex price-tier ticket - not economy or low-cost tickets - and there's a 20% deduction on the refund price. Flex tickets are the most expensive price tier so if you chose anything else, your tickets are non-refundable.

Modifying the tickets have restrictions depending on price tier: there are costs associated on all but flex tickets for changing the day/hour. In the "Transportation Contract" PDF, they state that tickets are non-transferable.

I have never, in dozens of train trips, had anyone check the name on my ticket against any ID. Give or sell your Italo tickets to someone who can use them.

BTW I once made my husband's ticket res using my name. They did not even balk at the female name. In fact all they really need is the PNR code. They do not even need to see a "ticket" per se.

I'm not surprised that's been the case, Laurel. Just thought it worth mentioning what's stated on the site.
LOL, I'd be the one to get caught with someone else's ticket the day someone DOES decide to check!!!

Names are not checked, ever. I sometimes put my name or my husbands in all the tickets, sometimes I don't even put a name. I have even had monthly trenitalia and italo passes with my husbands name and it's not a problem, the only important thing is the pnr.

Maybe try selling them or giving them to someone you know.

You won't get a refund for your flight, but they will let you change the date, usually in a 1 year time frame. There is a fee to do this and an up charge for a flight that costs more.
If this ticket, was one of the great deals we've seen in the past few months, the above may not be worth anything, but only you can do the math.
I'd still call Delta.

I think I got lucky. Delta gave me credit for my flight, and matched the price that I paid ($430) from Dallas->Venice Roundtrip, but I have to use this for travel by November 9th. Never had any luck with flight refunds before. This said this was a courtesy, though I think the ticket might be high demand that they can make money off of my cancellation.

Sorry that you had to cancel. At least you got the Delta credit. Hard lesson to learn I guess, I always buy travel insurance as it costs so little and gives peace of mind. Italy will still be there when you are ready.

The PNR is the booking code they check to make sure your tickets are valid.

Don't even think about changing the name on plane tickets. Some years ago, my sister was providing me a plane ticket, and had her assistant purchase it. Well, assistant didn't know that my first name is not Jane. So the name on the ticket didn't
match my passport. I called her, and she called the airline to change the name on the reservation. All OK? Yes, until I got to the first airport check-in. And the next. And the next... Seems like when you change the name on a plane reservation, red flags go up all over the place for a suspected security problem. I think we went through 6 airports that trip, and I was double checked and re-verified at each and every one of them.
