Changing a Trenitalia ticket from Rome to Milan

I was so excited when Trenitalia posted the summer schedule but I booked the wrong time on June 9th. I bought the economy business class and it says I can change for a fee. The time that I actually want is only 98E but I paid 158E for the wrong time. From what I can tell from the web site I can wait until 20 days before departure and request a 80% refund or exchange for a fee now. Each time I try to change the time online though I get an error code. For those of you that have successfully changed a ticket on Trenitalia, do you have any solutions for this? Would I be better off to just buy the time that I want now and then a 20 days out request the refund for the wrong time that I bought? Thank you.

Try emailing the at their customer care address or calling their phone number (start with 011 then the country code, 39, if is not listed, then the number) and ask for or select English. Keep in mind there's a six-hour time difference. Ask for an email confirmation if you phone them.

Thanks for the tips. I did call Trenitalia and was able to switch the ticket, but I had to pay the full price. So much for getting the early bird pricing....
