As long as your train is on time and you are not "public transportation challenged" you'll be fine. However, if you're not familiar with public transportation in general or are somewhat "challenged" in this area as I am, I would just ask someone as soon as you get off your train. Although the station is small, I was waiting at the wrong track for about 20 min before I figured it out and was therefore glad I had about 35 min between trains. Did not have any problems with the doors though.

You will have no problems. If I remember correctly, there are only two tracks in LaSpezia, There is a tunnel under the tracks, do not cross them. Remember to validate your ticket, and enjoy! JEff

In La Spezia check the boards to find the correct track for your train. There are more than two tracks. I remember this because I accidentally got on a train heading south instead of north, thinking two tracks. The local trains often run late, so don't be surprised that your 8 minutes to change trains ends up with you waiting for the next train. Having said that, your train will probably be on time, but that is not my experience. The busier the day, the longer it takes for trains to load and unload passengers. This throws off the schedules.

I personally don't think 8 minutes between trains is enough time because the trains don't run on schedule in that area- expect a delay. But I think if you missed the connection, it wouldn't be a huge deal to catch the next train passing through Pisa.

You could also take the local CT train to LaSpezia. I dont think they show up on the trenitalia schedules, but they run frequently. If you are staying in the CT, you will be familiar with them before you leave.

I agree with Kelly, the trains were delayed by 8 - 10 minutes frequently in Cinque Terre. Take an earlier train from Monterosso to be safe. If you decide to risk it, ask at the ticket counter in Monterosso which track you will need to get to in La Spezia, it is usually the same track and the clerks will know. Have Fun!
