We would like to go one way from Chamonix to Helbronner. When we arrive in Helbronner is there transportation we can take to Lake Como?

We are trying that same dream crossing into Italy over the Alps. Any advice would be great. Aosta seems to connect but more information would be wonderful.
It almost seems easier to take the jaunt to Helbronner and then back to Chamonix and catch a train to Italy.

I am trying to go all the way over to La Palud and then on to Aosta to Corniglia. Am having trouble with transportation (busses only) to Aosta. These two towns don't register on trenitalia. I don't know if you could go anywhere from Hebronner except hiking down a glacier.

I would recommend you get ahold of one of Rick Steves France Guidebooks. Any year will do. Look under Chamonix in his book and you will find detailed information regarding the lifts, glaciers, ice caves, hotel and restaurants in Chamonix and nearby as well as detailed directions for 5 different hikes in the area. You can find his guidebooks at Barnes and Noble and perhaps your local library.
