Chamonix to Bellagio

Trying to determine the best/ fastest route from Chamonix to Bellagio, without incurring a drop fee from France to Italy on a rental car. Are there public transportation options that I am missing? Right now I am considering the train to Courmayer and then rent a car there to drive to Bellagio.

Yes we have driven in Italy before. :-)

***Edited to note that I do have access to google and rome2rio. 😊😊 I Guess I was more so asking if anyone had any other options or experiences in addition to those. Or something else that the first five hits on google don’t show. Thank you everyone!

There is no train from Chamonix to Courmayeur, you'll have to settle for a bus.

try the website"Rome 2 Rio". It will show all options for travel and timetables for the route you enter.

I'd be surprised if there is any car rental possible in Courmayeur. Aosta is a better bet, you reach Aosta by Bus from Chamonix with a timetabled transfer in Courmayeur. SAVDA is the bus company.

Rome2Rio is usually pretty reliable about available routes. It is absolutely not to be trusted about travel times, frequencies or fares. You'll need to keep drilling down till you find the name of the bus company offering service and go to its website for reliable information. Usually Rome2Rio will provide a link to the website.
