We will have a couple of nights in Rome before heading to Palermo in October. Is the Centro Storico area a good place to stay? Easily accessed from FCO? Any recommendations? Thanks so much.

That is the city center, so yes, excellent place to stay. take a flat rate taxi from FCO.

Depends on traffic and where you are going. Could be 30 minutes and maybe an hour. The day rate from the airport is fixed at 48 euro for four passengers and luggage. The train is cheaper and if your accommodations are within walking distance of Termini that could be another option.

Excellent place to stay (that is why hotels in the Centro Storico cost more than anywhere else on average).
From FCO it’s 35 to 45 min by taxi, depending on traffic, at 48€ flat fare.

Most hotels can arrange for taxi or car service to and from FCO. The Centro Storico district is wonderful since you can walk to many wonderful sites.
