Centrally located hotel in Rome?

Hello,
We're looking for a hotel with a central location to many of the tourist sites. Is the Forum area the best for that? Price wise under $200/night aould be great.

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks. I do have a copy of the 2010 italy but I found it confusing as to which area was "best" located. It gave options for all the different areas.

Hi Rich,
The hotels right around the Roman FOrum are likely to cost well over 200 dollars per night, but if you want to check them out anyway, you could look at the Inn at Roman Forum, Hotel 47, Hotel Palatino, Hotel Paba, those are a few to get you started :)They all have good reviews and are centrally located.

Probably would not hurt for you to take a little of your time and scan back through some of the previous questions/responses. This question is asked at least once daily. Since ancient Rome is so small and easily walkable, being "centrally located" is not as critical as other cities but you pay a price to be near some of the popular tourist sites. Our preference is the Termini area for convenience to public transit but it is on the edge. 140E is a bit on the low side for central Rome.

Careful with the hotels near the train station, some are very seedy...Do research if so.I stayed in one and wanted out!

I completely disagree with Susan's statement unless of course you are using something super cheap. Then it will be seedy regardless of city or location. We have stayed in three, 3 star hotels in that area that were excellent.

richard,

I've stayed in Hotels and Hostels near Termini station, and haven't found them "seedy" at all! I've booked another one for my trip this spring (have a look at Their Website for the details).

I have no concerns at all about staying in that area, and any of the Hotels listed in the Guidebook will be very reliable (they're checked yearly to ensure they meet ETBD standards). That area is really convenient for transportation.

Have a look at a copy of the Italy or Rome 2010 Guidebooks, as they contain listings for Hotels in various parts of Rome, and in different price ranges.

Happy travels!

Hi, another fan of Hotel Aberdeen. The hotel is close to bus and metro, lots of restaurants and a little grocery that makes sandwiches just down the street. Plus Ministry of Defense is just across the street, so this is a really safe area at night.

Check out Hotel Italia in the Termini area- Very Reasonalble - we stayed at another Hotel before in this area. Have found it convenient to Metro and exhibits- as mentioned before Rome is not huge.
