Because this comes up so often on this board, I wanted to let everyone know that Ron in Rome sums up one phone possibility nicely in his latest post: TIM - The Latest Mobile Phone Deal Might be worth checking out. I'm planning to read it over in more detail as it sounds promising.

Thanks, Michael. I always use my TIM phone during summers in Italy - and I return before the 12 months is up, so I never lose the original number, I just buy more minutes.
