Cell phone reception in CT & Sorrento

I've used my GSM Cell phone all over Italy (and other parts of Europe) and so far haven't noticed any reception problems anywhere, including the C.T. and Sorrento.

Cell towers in Europe are ubiquitous so unless one is really in a remote location,
coverage is normally good.

We didn't use our cell phone in Sorrento, but it worked in in Vernazza. We called our accommodation (La Mala) when we arrived so that we could be met and shown our way to our rooms.

I had big problems using my Tmobile GSM phone in Italy. I was getting a message saying that the phone number wasn't valid.
I wonder if it ahd anything to do with the terrorism law in Italy.
I was able to us ethe phone in venice and one time in Rome.
Are you going to buy a SIM card from Italy or use your US one? It might make a difference.

I have used my cell phone in both places -- never a problem.
