We will be staying in Martina Franca in October and friends would like to treat us to a wonderful dinner to celebrate our 50 years of marriage and 80th birthdays. I'd love some recommendations in the area- Locorotondo, Ceglia Messapica, Martina Franca, etc.
It doesn't have to be fancy, but with delicious seafood, in particular.
Without a doubt, you should book CIBUS in Ceglie Messapica.
You are inland so seafood is not going to dominate, but they will have some on their menu.
Their menu changes to reflect the seasons. It's not expensive; we ate there twice a few months ago, and neither meal was close to 100e for two.

In Polignano a Mare: Antica Muraglia ("old walls"). OMG, the food was incredible...one of the best meals I've ever had, anywhere. Not cheap, worth the splurge, worth a side trip. Very memorable dining experience. Get reservations in advance, it's popular (in September we waited 24 hours for a table for 2).
Thank you both! I have Cibus as my #1 and sent it as a suggestion to our friends yesterday. Thanks for the affirmation! And my husband and I will be in Polignano before our friends arrive and Antica Muraglia was on my list as well. I guess my research has been good!
U’Curdunn in Locorotondo.
Google shows “temporarily closed”, probably now in low season during winter, but I’m sure should be open in October.
They are closed from January 7th to February 6th. I've noticed a number of restaurants that are marked "temporarily closed".
