Hello all,
So as our trip nears…we are trying to figure out the last leg of our trip. We are starting in Palermo , staying 3 nights from Sept 5-8 and renting a car as we leave Palermo and next base stop Trapani and so on. We are leaving Taormina September 17-19th and planned on Cefalu as our next stop from the 19th to 21st, however, not realizing our flight is at 0610 from Palermo on the 21st. Should we just cut out Cefalu this trip and head back to Palermo on the 19th for 2 more days so we aren’t rushing around at the end of our trip? That gives us a total of almost 5 days for a Palermo. Is that too much time? Is there another area that would be worth staying on our drive back from Taormina?
Just noting that the airport (Punta Raisa) is another 30-60 minutes west of Palermo itself, so its even longer to get there.
Thank you. Just looking at travel times , I think driving to Cefalu from Taormina and spending just one night in Cefalu as opposed to two nights. Is one night in Cefalu enough time? And then next day head back to Palermo which appears to be a much shorter distance and possibly brief stop in Isnello to visit town that my husbands family is originally from.
You can see a lot in Cefalù in one day since the historic center is small. That’s all we were there and managed to see everything in the town itself, even with me having a sprained ankle and hobbling around. We just didn’t get to go up the hill. We stayed at Hotel Alberi del Paradiso, Via Dei Mulini 18/20, Cefalu. It had free parking and a free shuttle to take you, and pick you up, the one mile to/from the historic center.
So if we stay one night in Cefalu (sounds like we can see a lot) and leave to go back to Palermo in the am so we are closer to the airport for our fight home on the 21st. What hotel would you recommend that is near the airport?
Cefalu is an easy train ride from Palermo, if you want to consider that option for maybe a day trip out of Palermo.
