These tours/shows in the forums are terrific! For the one in Augustus’ Forum, you sit on bleachers and watch a multimedia presentation. For Caesar’s you walk thru the Forum. For both, you wear a headset and listen in your preferred language. Very interesting and a fun night activity.

I've never taken one of the tours so my opinion is from my experience alone . . . but never completely alone. Meandering around the ruins at night is a very different and powerful experience. By moonlight, starlight and the atomospheric lighting always gives me a sense of looking very far into the past and feeling like I am here because of the past. Make sense? That's not original but rather a family from the mid-west said that to me. We were all standing, suddenly quiet (even their young teenage children). The wife sighed, the husband looked over at me and he's the one who said it. The conversations that we have on this site is important and very useful. That family and I never got beyond 'where are you from' and 'I have a sense of looking . . .'. That was enough. We didn't need a tour (noticed we both had our RS books). We just needed to 'be there because of the past.'

Then I have a drink by the Pantheon, a gelato on Piazza Comune (sitting by the Bernini fountain on the steps of Sant 'Agnese). Then it's off to bed thinking I am here because of the past. I like me here. Enjoy the night!
