Catania Transportation to Airport

Looking for guidance on transportation to Catania Airport after ending the RS Sicily Tour in October. How long to airport? Also, need to schedule flight from CTA to Rome FCO. Is a noonish flight departure feasible? Is one airline preferable over the others? Thanks.

The airport is only three miles from the center of town (Basilica Cattedrale di Sant'Agata). A taxi shouldn’t cost much.

We took ITA airlines from Catania to Rome last year, taking a 10 am flight but there are lots to chose from. Good airline and was reasonable.

All the typical means are available, Taxi of course would be the most direct, fastest, but not cheapest. There is an airport bus leaving from the central train station, several euro each.

There is also a train station labeled Catania airport, however, it is "near" the airport and a shuttle bus meets you at the station to get you there. Since you are in Catania, the direct bus would be better than the train, the train works well if you were coming from out of town,

I did the RS Sicily tour in May. Fabulous!!! I often use public transportation to/from airports in Europe (for example, I rode the train from the Palermo airport into the city). But, for Catania, I'd recommend a taxi due to the short distance to the airport. I flew out on the morning our tour ended and shared a taxi with a couple on our tour. My ITA flight departed late morning, which was fine bc I spent several days in Rome before flying home to the US.

Several on our tour who were flying Catania to Rome to the US in the same day had very early departures from Catania.

I was pleased with ITA's service on my flights from Rome FCO to Palermo and from Catania to Rome FCO.
