catania to malta

I hoped to travel to Malta at the end of the RS Sicily tour next April and wondered what was the best or easiest way to get there. Has anyone taken the ferry? If you've flown, which airline did you use? Any other tips or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Poppi

I considered going to Malta in 2015 but didn't get there. At that time, the ferry from the south coast of Sicily was very expensive for the length of the trip. That may well have changed In the last 10 years, but I'd check the ferry fare to be sure it's not a great deal higher than the airfare.

Flying is faster, cheaper and easier.

To take a ferry, you’ll need to take a bus to the ferry port in Pozzallo, then the ferry (about 2 hours). And the ferry is subject to cancellation in bad weather.

Our flight was under an hour and very inexpensive. Any airline is fine.

I went with my siblings from Sicily to Malta by ferry this spring and it was very alright. Otherwise by plane is possible (but environmentally harmful for such a close distance and also also you don't have the airport hassle with security, checking in, leaving your bags etc, for a fraction of the duration) . I hope that helps and enjoy your trip

Flew this route 7 or 8 years ago with Ryanair for slightly less than $25. No issues and a short flight.
