Spouse has been to Catania for work before; his old-faithful lodging inexplicably unresponsive this time: probably full (August). Could you recommend a favorite back-door type place for the 3 of us (15 yo daughter, good traveler)? Walking distance to town center OR to beach: either wd be great. Looking for clean, not expensive or fancy, internet access a big plus. Kitchen or fridge wd be great, or breakfast provided. My and my daughter's 1st time in Italia! Thanks.

We stayed at the B & B da Gianni e Lucia in Catania, which is located in the town center on Via Etna. We had a double room with breakfast for 60 Euro per night. It is no means fancy, but is clean with some great architectural details. There was internet in the breakfast/reception room with wifi in some of the rooms. (we got wifi in the hall outside our room). The bus from the airport in 1Euro and lets you off around the corner from the B & B.
