Catania and Rome airport help

Hello. I am trying to determine how much time to allow for in Rome, to go through immigration and/or customs.

I will be flying direct from JFK to Catania, Sicily then staying a week in Sicily. I will then be taking a one way flight from Catania to Rome. I will leave a week later to return to the US.

What happens when I land in Rome? I will have checked luggage. Do I have to go through any immigration or customs lines there?

I am trying to determine how much time to allow at airport.

Thanks to anyone who can advise!

When you land in Rome you go to baggage claim and pick up your checked luggage off the carousel and that's it.
