We will be flying to Venice from Catania in October. We have not traveled from Catania before. For a 8 am flight is 2 hours early about right? Also, on RyanAir should I wait a couple months before booking?

I would book asap. Be aware that RyanAir is strict re: checking in so be sure you are aware of that.

Ryanair sent us constant emails with instructions
about their requirements which we followed. Two hours is fine. Book your flight now!!

Actually, you can't check in more than two hours before at the airport.
Also, do yourself a favor and just pay for the Plus option, gives you airport check in and 20 kilo checked bag without the tight size requirement

So funny. I just bought tickets for my husband and mother-in-law between Turin and Reggio Calabria, and we added in all sorts of extra stuff in hopes of them not getting dinged at the airport. So Paul's advice has me feeling good about our decision !
