Catania airport cab

My husband and I will be flying into Catania in May. Rather than renting a car at the airport, we would like to take a cab to Siracusa and then rent a car in Siracusa when we are ready to head to other parts of Sicily. I know I can book a cab in advance but am hesitant to do so in case our flight is very delayed. Does anyone know if it is difficult to just get in the queue at the airport and get a cab to Siracusa, given the distance. I know we can go into Catania and take a train but we don't really want to do that.

If you decide a taxi is too expensive, you could take the bus.

We took the bus from the airport. Stepped outside the airport and bought the tickets at the kiosk. Got lucky and only had to wait a couple of minutes for the bus. It takes you to Siracusa, no need to go into Catania for the train.

If you are staying in Siracusa, ask your lodging if they can suggest a car service. When we flew in to Catania, our BnB on Ortigia arranged a driver to pick us up. Not that expensive and really easy. Must have been cheaper than a cab.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I hadn’t realized buses left right from the airport. Because we are older, I’m trying to be extra cautious with regard to Covid when traveling. Hence my willingness to pay more for a driver or cab rather than a potentially crowded bus or train. (I know this probably sounds irrational, given the fact that I will just have been on a crowded plane). I’m just hesitant to book a car for a particular time when we could be delayed. That’s why I was wondering if just getting in the cab line when we arrive would work, given the distance. The bus or an arranged driver both sound pretty convenient so I may rethink it. Thank you.
