My family will be heading to Italy the last week of May for 12 days. We will have 3 full days in Rome and 4 full days in the Naples area. I think my teenage children would enjoy a tour of some catacombs, but no need to take 2 tours. So I am wondering which city has the better catacomb tour, Rome or Naples?
If you are in Rome over a Sunday, then it should be the Appian Way and the catacombs. And second, I wasn't even aware of catacombs in Naples. The Rome catacombs have on-site tours. You would be hard pressed to see the catacombs in two hours or less. I think 4 days is little excessive for Naples and three days extremely short for Rome.
Thank you for your suggestions.
There are, indeed, catacombs in Naples http://www.italia.it/en/travel-ideas/art-and-history/the-catacombs-of-naples.html
I'm just not sure which would be the better option.
We will be in Naples for more days because my father was in the Navy and I spent 6 years of my childhood in Naples/Pozzuoli and have many wonderful memories of the area.
