Has anyone visited the lost town of Antuni? I know it is a bit of a distance from Rome but I was looking for a day outside the city and we have already visited Trivoli, Orvieto and have plans to return to Ostia Antica. Any projections of cost for hiring a driver for the day, we are 3.
Well, since you've had no replies, I was intrigued and googled. I'm sure you could hire a driver - no idea of cost. But it appears you can also take the train - an hour and a half to Carsoli - and a bus (30 minutes) or taxi (20 minutes) from there.
This is interesting to me as we will "kind of" be close to the Castle in about six weeks as we drive from Civita di Bagnoregio to Abruzzo. I've found that access is only possible with a guided tour. From their website "...access is only possible with a guided tour in a Group. Never venture independently because the site is closed with a gate at the beginning of the path..." Tours are only available Sundays and Holidays at 1030am.

Not going to work for us after all.
Look at a day trip by train to Bracciano. Nice little city overlooking a lake of volcanic origin with one of the best castles I've seen in Italy. The train station is right in town and you can explore the medieval part adjacent to the castle in an hour.
