Staying in Central Tuscany area - which castle is recommended or should it be skipped altogether?
Also, does anyone know anything about the little town Lornanino? We are considering a little Agriturismo called Podere Lornanino which is located here.

The only good castle I have been to in Italy is Fortezza di San Leo which we stopped at on our drive from Siena to Ravenna. A long day trip from Tuscany.
San Leo is a sight to see and a site to see. It is near San Marino, which also has nice castles to see. However, it is not in Tuscany it is a separate country. I recommend a visit even so. Both San Leo and San Marino are in Emilia Romagna and northwest of Tuscany.
As castles go In Italy Assisi has a nice one and there is lots more to see as well.
Not sure where you are staying but the rocca of Montalcino might be close.
The list below shows several. Except for no. 1,5,7 all others are in central Tuscany.
