We will be staying in Castiglion Fiorentino in September of this year and will have a car while there. One of our day trips will be to Pisa. The plan is to make a leisurely drive (but leave early in the morning) and make a couple stops on the way there or on the way back. There are numerous routes we could take with wonderful places to see along the way. If you were making this drive, what places would you visit? Grazie mille!

Take the A1 freeway from Arezzo. At Firenze Nord follow directions to A11 for Prato and Pisa. Stop at Lucca along the A11 and visit Lucca for the better part of the day.
In the afternoon go to Pisa and visit the famous Piazza dei Miracoli for a few hours.
Come home via the SGC FI-PI-LI freeway and then the A1 from FIRENZE SCANDICCI entrance to AREZZO. You are not near Pisa, therefore this is the fastest way 2.5 hours each way.
