Castelrotto to Salzburg train (via Bolzano or Bressanone/Brixen?)

Hi friends:
To reach Salzburg via train from Castelrotto / Kastelruth on Tuesday June 20, would you take the bus to Bressanone / Brixen to catch the train from there? (I don't need to go back south to Bolzano, correct?).

Do you know which bus I would take from Castelrotto to Bressanone?

I don't have experience with these trains: EC/Railjet. Which website should I use to buy the tickets?

Thank you so much for your input! I'm a solo traveler so I appreciate your expertise here :)

Either option is fine in my opinion. I'd say it depends on how well the bus and train schedules match.

Railjet is ÖBB's "flagship train" used on longer distances, buy the tickets at www.oebb.at

Bus 170 from Castelrotto, it goes to Bressanone. There are a few German EC trains that do not require a change in Brenner, but you will have to change trains in Innsbruck to Salzburg. So unless you plan on one of those trains, I would get off the bus at Ponte Gardena/Waidruck, it would cut the bus by about 30 minutes. Train to Brenner, change trains to Innsbruck then change again to Salzburg. It's beautiful scenery to Innsbruck, we just took the train route from Munich to Bressanone in February, we opted for a private shuttle transfer to Castelrotto since we stopped in Innsbruck for several hours and had our luggage with us.

Trenitalia to Brenner since it's Italian, then Oebb Brenner to Salzburg as it's the Austrian train site.

Thanks to both of you for that info. I checked the bus schedule from Castelrotto to the closer train station (Ponte Gardena), but it only shows a 7:30am departure. I was going to linger over a nice breakfast spread, so I prefer to leave about 9:30. :)
I'll check out the OBB website for those tickets.

This website shows the schedule.
https://www.suedtirolmobil.info/de/

Put in Starting Point "Castelrotto autstazione", and Destination "Innsbruck Hbf" and the date and time.

You will see take the 170 bus at 9:57 to Brixen, then a 26 minute change time to the EC 88 to Innsbruck, arriving at 12:36. The OEBB site will show the connecting train to Salzburg, departing at 13:14 on RJX 867, arriving at 15:02.

Got it! Thanks so much Sam for spelling that out for me. That timing sounds perfect :)
Edited to add: I was able to book those tickets, so I’m all set. Thanks again!
