Castelmezzano & Pietrapertosa

We have not yet done this, but my husband and I have plans to visit these towns by car from Matera in May. We are planning on connecting the towns via a walk on the Seven Stone Path (no zip line for me!) although we are unsure what the best way back to our car will be. I’ll post here after our trip, although you may be going prior to May.

From Salerno it is mostly on a 4 to 6 lane freeway. Then once you exit the freeway it's a 20+ minutes of 2 lane highway with some hairpin curves. I've driven only on the freeway part in that area, but you can see the road from the freeway to the towns using Google Street View.

Thank you Roberto. To get to Matera from Castelmezzano, google seems to recommend driving back out on that smaller access road vs. going all the way through Castelmezzano and continuing on with the smaller road and meeting up with the highway further east. We hope to get some local advice!
