Castelli Romani

Anyone attend the festival in Oct in Marino? Is it worth the trip, or would one of the other towns in this region be better to visit to avoid big crowds. Thank you.

We spend a week in the Castelli Romani every summer. The area is tranquil and beautiful. We stay at a b&b in Ariccia and we've become friends with the owner. Ariccia is famous for Porchetta Romano which is whole roasted pig packed in rosemary and salt. There are about 20 restaurants in town all with the same menu.

If you are there in June Genzano di Roma has the Infiorata. The street leading up to the church at the top of the hill is decorated with flower petals creating holy pictures. Nemi is another gorgeous place overlooking Lago di Nemi. we really like this area.

Commuting to Roma is easy. We drive from Ariccia on the Via Appia Nuova to the metro stop at Arco Travertino, park, walk 50 meters to the subway station, and 20 minutes later we are at the Stazione Termini.

Buon viaggio,

RB
