Has anyone visited the Papal Palace and Gardens at Castel Gandolfo? We are going to be in Rome this spring and want to visit, but aren't finding answers to our questions (or getting responses to emails).
1. Has anyone taken an uber from Rome? We have a group of 5 and would prefer not to deal with the train for this trip.
2. Can you buy tickets on site or do we risk having them sold out? We'd be going on a Sunday. (NOT Palm Sunday or Easter!)
3. Anyone done the Observatories tour?
4. Is the palace/gardens ticket offered on the Vatican site for a set tour or can you just walk at your leisure? We aren't paying for a guided private tour, but we'd like to be able to visit the gardens etc. at our own pace.
5. What do the gardens look like in late March? Worth seeing?
6. Other places to see/shop in Castel Gandolfo, especially on a Sunday?
