Cash vs. credit card in Sicily?

Hey there, I'm wondering how often I'll need to use cash (I'd prefer to use credit card) traveling in Sicily. I'll be in Palermo, Cefalu, Siracusa, Noto, and Ragusa. Do most places accept American credit cards?

I would assume churches and little street food places/bakeries take cash primarily? But what about cafes, museums?

we were in Sicily last fall and just about everyone took US credit cards. Even many food market vendors had card readers. If it was 5E or more we paid with a credit card.
