Cash or Credit Cards - Sorrento and Amalfi Coast

Do most of the restaurants and tours/drivers accept only cash? Or do most of them also accept credit cards. Also, are there many ATMs in Sorrento and/or the Amalfi Coast?

Thanks!

Get a Capitol One credit card, you do not pay the 3% surcharge with Capitol One.

Cash is King! Many prefer or require it, but I always try to pay in cash whenever possible anyway. Italians don't like having to pay fees to credit card companies, it hurts their bottom line. You should be able to readily find an ATM in larger towns along the Amalfi Coast.

We just returned from a couple days in both Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. ATMs (banco mats) are everywhere in all of Italy, including even in fairly little places down the Amalfi coast. Most places strongly prefer cash and some require it, although we most restaurants seem to be OK with credit cards if that's what you want to use. We only used two drivers but both required cash. My only advice: think a little in advance about how much cash you need because you may be limited in how much you can take out every day.
