September 1st we arrive in Rome 9:15 am on a flight from the USA. I really didn't want to drive on our 1st day (with jet lag), so our plan was to take a train to Caserta, get a rental and drive just to our B&B, and use Caserta as a base to explore some smaller villages for a couple days (Sant'Agata De Goti, for one). Then head to Sorrento, where we would return the car. I don't know that we could arrive in Caserta before noon (and most likely, it would be 3 pm). I have searched for rentals that are open past noon on a Saturday, but have only found sites that specialize in weddings, limos, etc. I don't know if that is an option or not. Websites were in Italian so I don't know if my limited Italian would get me too far.
I thought Caserta made sense because of some direct trains, but perhaps I should rethink this small portion of our trip. I imagine we could use buses, but our experiences (though funny) prove Italian buses to be a little unpredictable. I think the Saturday hours are fairly universal ... and of course, nothing is open Sunday.
Any thoughts are appreciated. I am sure I could be missing something.
Thanks in advance for your time.
