Cartafreccia

Hi -- I was able to sign up for the Cartafreccia program using the address of one of the apartments I'm renting for a trip to Italy next month.

Does anyone know if the conductors check for place of residence on tickets purchased using the loyalty discount? We have waited until the last minute to buy tickets (Rome - Monterosso - Florence - Venice), so club discounts would be nice!

The capotreno will not even check your gender much less your ID or address. I inadvertently bought a ticket for my husband using my first name and no one questioned. Nothing to worry about!

If you got a discount reserved to Carta Freccia holders, the conductor might ask to see the card.

Thanks! Sounds like slightly conflicting advice about their attention to detail. They do send a temporary "card" by e-mail; so perhaps this would suffice?

Yes, your temp card will be fine. Getting a permanent card can take weeks....

Thanks -- I was just worried that we might be expected to prove Italian residence on the trains! The discount wouldn't be worth the fines and hassle.
