Carta Argento

I recently bought tickets for my wife and I on RS/Rail Europe for several trips in Italy. I purchased the tickets clicking on the option that we were over 60. We are well over that age. I don't know how Rail Europe handles this. Do they assume we have a Carta Argento in hand when we bought the ticket? They don't mention it anywhere and I just noticed in RS's book that to qualify for a senior discount we need a Carta Argento.
Does this mean we have to purchase a Carta Agento when we get to Italy before we can use the tickets?

We're leaving in a week. Thanks everyone.

I just use my free Carta Freccia card for senior discounts on Trenitalia. US residents have to fill out a form and email it in. You can’t sign up online. The process may take a few months so I don’t think you have time.

If you used RS services to purchase, they may be the best place to go for an answer to your question. I don’t know too many people who use rail passes in Italy.

This is from the Trenitalia website:
https://www.trenitalia.com/en/offers/green_and_silvercardswithrailplusdiscount.html

The Silver Card ("Carta d'Argento") with Railplus discount is for customers over 60 years and costs 30 euro (free for customers of 75 years and over). It allows discounts of

10% off wagon lits and couchettes,
15% off the Base Fares (first and second class) on all national trains and on service levels Business, Premium and Standard
25% off with the Railplus discount on international connections.

Both the Green and Silver Cards can be bought at the station ticket desks and from the authorized travel agencies in Italy.

Note: you must present a valid id or passport.
