Cars in Bellagio

We will be flying into Milan , either Malpensa or Linate ,and then going straight up to Bellagio for 3 nights at the Hotel Florence . Do I need a car up there ?. Is it just a hassle for parking etc ? I dont mind paying the 300 euro round trip for a taxi .
ps , after Bellagio we return to Milan .

You don't really need a car and I don't know if your hotel has parking arrangements in the premises or at some affiliated location. Bellagio can be easily reached by train from Milan. Take a train to Varenna, then from Varenna take a quick Ferry across into Bellagio. However if you have a car already for other reasons, you can keep it. For sure I would not spend Euro 300 for a taxi. That is outrageous. If you don't want the car take the train. You can take the train from Malpensa (inside the airport) and go to Varenna (train change at Milano Centrale). Make sure you take the train to Milano Centrale and not Milano Cadorna from the airport. www.trenitalia.com If you decide to keep the car, in front of the hotel there is a piazza with meter parking (unlimited time) at Euro 1.50/hour (free between 8pm to 8am). No need for coins, you pay by credit card at the machine and put the receipt on the dashboard. That would be 18 euro a day. Between May and October the historical center is closed to traffic (ZTL). Hotel guests can enter, but the hotel must register your car online with the City otherwise you get fined. Look at the map linked at the bottom. Your hotel is in Piazza Mazzini. There are also some parking lots not far from your hotel (just a short walk away). Some are pay parking (P in blue background on the map below), some are free (P in green background on the map). http://www.promobellagio.it/sites/www.promobellagio.it/files/PARCHEGGIARE%20A%20BELLAGIO%202012%20-%20I.pdf
