I’m thinking about getting a folding seat/cane to take on a month long trip to Rome, Siena, Florence, Lucca, Venice (Ta Da Chair on Amazon) but am now wondering if it can be a carry on item on United. Anyone have advice? Thanks!
My husband has had no trouble taking his folding cane seat onboard on both transatlantic and European/UK domestic flights. All of his models have rubber tips and fit in the overhead bin. It’s always been viewed as a mobility device. He’s going to put an AirTag on it this year as last year it got lost somewhere between UBER and TSA.
Here are the TSA procedures for canes and walking assistance devices: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/tsa-cares/disabilities-and-medical-conditions#ui-id-15 The final decision rests with the TSA officer though.
United says you can bring "manual and electric wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, canes, and crutches. They can be folding, non-folding, or collapsible." https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/travel/accessibility-and-assistance/wheelchair-assistance.html
