Carry on allowance ..Delta/AirFrance

Booked our upcoming trip with Delta but have one AirFrance leg from Paris to Milan. Which carry-on size requirements should we follow? We are hoping to just carryon but don't want to be denied for our AirFrance flight.

Expect that who ever is operating the flight may enforce their companies carry-on number, size and weight rules regardless of who ticketed and regardless of code share. With checked baggage, see your ticket.

Air France's carry-on allowance looks pretty standard, so aim to follow their rules: http://www.airfrance.us/US/en/common/guidevoyageur/pratique/preparer_bagage_cabine_airfrance.htm

Economy: Your baggage allowance in the Economy cabin ◾ 1 standard baggage item that respects the following maximum dimensions:
55 cm (l) x 35 cm (w) x 25 cm (h) – including pockets, wheels, and handles
◾ Please note: (1 suit bag is considered a standard bag)
◾ 1 accessory (handbag, notebook computer, camera, etc.)
◾ Maximum total weight (standard baggage + accessory): 12 kg/26.5 lb

I was concerned about this question recently when flying United then connecting to Lufthansa. I found I had specific "rights" related to this, as In the second airline honoring the allowances of my ticketing airline. If there are differences in the allowances and this is important to you, I think you should phone Delta customer service and ask about this, then even call Air France and confirm what you learn. I found I had no problems when traveling, including on a much smaller Lufthansa commuter flight.

I traveled last year carry on only, BUT in regional.flights (Rome to Pisa) my carry on was too large for overhead. Luckily flight was not full and I was allowed to put luggage on seat. My husband had a Rick Steves suitcase which fit above. I believe regional flights, in general, have smaller overheads.
